He is one of the most watched and preferred sports commentator as well as a political critic and has developed quite a reputation for himself in his work span of almost 35 years. A good looking man in his older days, he has got a height of 6 feet and 3 inches.
Keith Theodore Olbermann was born on the 27th of January, 1959 in New York City, New York of the United States of America. He was born as the elder of two children into a middle-class family where his father Theodore Olbermann worked as an architect and his mother Marie Katherine was a school teacher for kindergarten kids.
Keith and his sister Jenna grew up together in their house in Westchester County and went to the same school, which was Hackley School. Inspired by his mother towards developing an interest towards baseball, Keith also became a Yankee fan and from an early age started to collect and write articles about the games, the players, and the team.
He also began to comment about the games and before graduating school had started as an anchor for the WHTR. He graduated high school at the age of 16, and went to study Broadcast Communications at the Cornell University, and graduated from there in 1979.
Since 1981, he began his professional career as a sports journalist and commentator; and one of his early works was in RKO Radio Network, covering the “1980’s Winter Olympics”. From there, he moved to CNN in 1981 but couldn’t stick there long enough, thereby moving to work in WNEW Radio Station. Then towards the mid-80s, he moved to Boston and worked for WCVB-TV for a couple of years, before going to work in KTLA and KCBS; Los Angeles.
In 1992, he was hired by ESPN to work for their daily show SportsCenter where he stayed till 1997. It was the same year when he got suspended for a couple of weeks; because he showed up at The Daily Show on Comedy Central; without permission. That event triggered the cold war between Olbermann and ESPN, and he didn’t return to the sets until a couple of years after when he was asked to.
Having worked in a lot of TV shows as well in many other events, his popularity can be identified by the number of followers on his Twitter account, which is over 500K. With a lot of media attention to his personal life, it can be said that he hasn’t had a lot many girlfriends but was married some time ago, with NBC News anchor Katy Tur. They were married in 2006 but soon got divorced in 2009, and since then hasn’t got any wife or children. With rumors of him being sexually gay not true, it is, however, true that he has a huge net worth value of about 25 million US dollars.
