His grandparents were also an adventurer who settled in southern Africa before Africa was fully explored. His grandfather Gerald Summerfield proved the existence of coelacanth, which was believed to have extinct 60 million years ago.

After their magical day, the lovebirds spend a romantic time driving through Canada and went to South America for their honeymoon. His wife Jessica is a science teacher who also likes adventure and wildlife.
They both met during their high school days at Coast Union High School while Jessica was visiting Cayucos. They were engaged in 2013.
As of now, Forrest and his wife are in a relationship for more than one and a half decade.
