Jake’s father, Bruce, is a former American football offensive lineman who played in the National Football League for 19 seasons. He played from 1983 to 2001.

Jake's father was selected to 14 Pro Bowls in his career, tied for the most of any player in NFL history at the time of his retirement following the 2001 season. Also, he was a successful college football player at USC. He won the Morris Trophy for offense and All-American honors during his senior year.

Jake's High School And College Career

Jake attended Elkins High School in Missouri City, where he was a standout offensive lineman for the Elkins Knights high school football team. During his senior season, his team finished the season with a 9–3 record, so he was a first-team all-district and all-greater Houston honoree. Jake was also invited to play in the 2010 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

After that, Jake enrolled at Texas A&M in 2012, as a freshman, he was part of the first-team All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) selection in recognition of his successful season. In his senior season, Jake played left tackle after playing the right tackle for the previous three seasons.
