Career as Motocross Champion:
The Kansas City native is undoubtedly the motocross racing legend and marked the 1990s with his victories. Jeff got hold of four major titles in the 1990s for Kawasaki and Yamaha, and his rivalry with Jeremy McGrath reached the very peak. His successful run in the 1990s came to a halt when injury hit him in 1998 before which he won seven races out of possible 13.
In spite of illustrious career, he was once arrested for illegal possession of marijuana in 1999 and was later released after filling up the fine.
After breaking his forearms in December 1999, he was about to make a comeback in 2000, but his return to the racing arena marked the end of his career. On 4th May 2000, he suffered a horrendous crash where he broke his vertebra leaving him paralyzed temporarily. After the severe injury, he retired from professional motocross racing but involves himself in one way or other.
He races for fun and owns a racing team. His remarkable achievement and dedication received applause when he was included in AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2004.
