After she had graduated from culinary school, Amanda's first position in a New York City kitchen was as rotisserie and grade manager at Vong. There is where her passion for the flavor with French technique with Southeast Asian ingredients.

She also is seen in many episodes in Iron Chef America acting as Cowan's sous chef. Plus again she guests stars and appears in seasons five of The Next Iron Chef, in January of 2014 she took over the Empire Diner in Manhattan, New York as executive chef but soon left in the mid-year of 2015. She soon after began hosting the new Food Network series American Diner Revival.
