Somalia-American actor Barkhad Abdi is recognized for portraying the character of Abduwali Muse in 2013’s big debut film Captain Phillips. Barkhad was one of the leads in the biographical thriller along with actor Thomas Jeffrey Hanks. The artist made a significant mark in the movie industry for which he won Best Actor in a Supporting Role in BAFTA Award and also got the Oscar nomination.

Barkhad was returning to the US from London after receiving BAFTA award. But, he was stopped in the Custom because of his criminal records. He was restricted by immigration officials as he was charged with illegal possession of drugs in the past.
His crime records also include credit card fraud case on 1 June 2001. He was sentenced to 200 days at the prison 200 days of probation with $500 penalty. He was also fined $1000 for buying liquor when he was below 21 years of age.
