Carter Oosterhouse got married to actress, Amy Smart on 10 September 2011 in Traverse City, Michigan.

Carter met Amy through a mutual friend at a green-charity event in November 2010 and started dating started dating right away. The lovebirds made the first public appearance at Art of Elysium event in L.A. in January 2011.

After dating for four months, he got engaged with Amy in a private ceremony. The news of their engagement surfaced in April 2011 when his then-fiancée, Amy was posted with her engagement ring.

Months after their engagement, the couple got married in front of 215 wedding guests in Michigan. The Shameless actress donned a Carolina Herrera gown at her wedding while her eight bridesmaids appeared in navy Ann Taylor attire.

Sexual Controversy With Gay Make-up Artist; Wife Defends Him

Carter was involved in a controversy in 2017 when his makeup artist, Kailey Kaminsky alleged him of forcing her into a sexual relationship. Kailey is an openly gay make-up artist, who worked with Carter on his previous HGTV show; Carter Can in 2008.

Kailey accused that he threatened her that he would fire her from the job. The gay artist had also made claims that the TLC star forced her to have oral s*x. She also added that she suffered from depression and had to seek medical treatment in the hospital.

In an conversation with The Hollywood Reporter (THR) in December 2017, Carter acknowledged that he had sexual relationships with Kailey about nine years ago but mentioned that the relationship was "100 percent mutual." 

He also added that he would not have done anything to make Kailey uncomfortable. He then mentioned Kailey initiated the physical relationship and admitted to having a sexual relationship for over 15 times. In another interview, Carter said that he has never been in any other sexual affairs besides Kailey.

After the much-heated controversy, Carter’s wife, Amy came in support for her husband. She shared a picture on her IG account on 17 December 2017 and mentioned that Kailey had a consensual relationship with her now husband.
