Jackie began his career as a singer and guitarist in a band named as The Off-Hour Rockers. Jackie then started shifting his profession to be a standup comedian after he attended an open-mic night at Catch a Rising Star comedy club. He then left the band and embarked a full-time stand-up comedy.
Jackie released his debut album named as What Did You Expect in 1979 followed by another one named as Goin Ape! in 1980. Working on a couple of radio stations like WNBC and WXRK, Jackie made his way into The Howard Stern Show as a writer in February 1986. During the mid to late 90s, Jackie also released a few other albums like Joke Man, Hot Dogs + Donuts, F Jackie, and Sgt. Pecker. Late in his career, Jackie also released his first song album ever named as Happy Endings and even published a book The Joke Man: Bow to Stern which got released on 24 October 2017.
