American journalist Margaret Brennan and her husband Yado Yakub paid tribute to their heritage through the names of their sons.
As Brennan belongs to an Irish background and Yakub belongs to the Syrian, they named their first son Eamon Brennan Yakub. He was born on 11 September 2018 at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington.
Likewise, showing a sign of respect, they named their second son Malek Murphy Yakub. He was welcomed on 29 April 2021 at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C.

She and her husband first met at Virginia University in 1998, when they studied together at the University. But nothing sparked between the two initially.
During the summer of 2000, she moved to Irbid, Jordan, and studied at Yarmouk University. She shared an apartment with Yakub's sister, Samia Yakub, and developed a friendship with her. The duo traveled and visited Samia and Yado’s grandmother in Damascus.
When Margaret moved to Washington from New York in June 2012, she learned from Samia that her brother was returning on Capitol Hill. She eventually had a fateful reunion with Yakub on 16th Street, and the two started their dating relationship.
