The Law graduate from Edinburgh University first started her journalism career working for The Sun. There, she spent almost seven years as a reporter in city, showbusiness, and women's news. After that, she joined the London City University for a diploma in newspaper journalism. She then started freelancing and wrote pieces for The Scottish Sun. Likewise, during her initial phase of service, Martel wrote for the Bizarre column. Also, she has written a weekly column for the Evening Telegraph since 2013 in Dundee.
