The talented actress was born on 19 January 1982 in Ashford, Surrey as the daughter of a probation officer, Mary, and an investment banker Nigel Wilson. She is accompanied by three brothers in the family, Toby, Sam and Matthew.
Ruth attended Notre Dame School, and later went to Esher College for high school education. She got graduated with a degree in history from the University of Nottingham in 2003. She then graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) in 2005.
