In September 2002, Sam left WABC-TV and began working for ABC Sports as a sideline reporter, covering college football. Eventually, in 2005, she became a fill-in reporter for the Monday Night Football season.

The following year, she started serving as a sideline reporter for ESPN and ESPN2's coverage of the National Hockey League playoffs. Also, her responsibility was to broadcast the Stanley Cup Finals. And, in 2004, she again got an opportunity to report for ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball.

After that, she served as a contributor to CBS Sports in 2006. During her tenure period for the media network, Sam broadcasted news for events like The NFL and the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship. Also, she worked for WCBS as a sportscaster in the same year.
