If that is true, they might have met around 2004 as that is the first time we saw them together on the silver screen. They had worked in the film Without A Paddle. 

Then in a 2014 interview with NZ Herald, he had mentioned his girlfriend saying she could not watch his fight scenes of Banshee's brutal battles. And we assume the girlfriend he was talking about is Lucy McLay.
