The 42-year-old graduate of the Yale Law School served as a Coker Fellow for Constitutional Law during her academic session and founded Yale Law School's first theater troupe, the Court Jesters. Asha worked as a law clerk in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit in San Juan for the Honorable Juan R. Torruella. She was also the Special Agent for Federal Bureau of Investigation, specializing in counterintelligence investigations in New York City, from 2002-2005. She was one of the first Amerindians to be in the post of FBI.

After her career in FBI, she worked as the senior lecturer at Yale University's Jackson Institute for Global Affairs. She teaches the National Security Law at various institutions like Wesleyan University and the University of New Haven.
