You see, I’m gay. This is not a choice I made, but something I've known about myself my whole life. Through life's twists and turns, marriage, divorce, fatherhood, successes, failures - I've landed on this day, a day when I'm happier and healthier than I’ve ever been. And I’m finally comfortable enough for everyone to know this truth about me.
His family also remained supportive of his decision, and his kids and ex-wife encouraged him to step up and remained close with the TV actor. On 14 February 2017, Cody took his Twitter and wished his boyfriend 'Happy Valentine's Day.'

I’d been carrying around the ring for a few months and almost popped the question on several different occasions, but I waited. I was anxious about the moment, so I started my big speech before the food even arrived. I told him how much I loved him, and with a few tears and a crack in my voice, I gave him the ring and asked him to marry me. Lucky for me, he said yes.
Alan met his occupational therapist boyfriend Trea at a Carrie Underwood concert in 2015 while he was the host. The openly gay couple, who became close due to country music, developed a close relationship in 2016 and ever since they did not hesitate to step at a public event together.
