A year later, the Portland-born journalist served as the Boston City Hall bureau chief of the Herald American.

University of North Carolina's graduate has worked for the Boston's WRKO (AM 680). Later, on 9 July 2007, he left the station to form his own Howie Carr Radio Network. Similarly, he received the deal of the five-year contract with the WTKK station (96.9 FM) that would earn him $7 million. Born in Portland, Maine on 17 January 1952, Howie Carr was raised by his parents Frances Stokes Sutton and Howard Louis Carr Sr. His father, Howard died at the Wesley Long Hospital on Wednesday on 1 October 2008.

In 1973, Howie completed his graduation from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After completing graduation, The Howie Carr Show host began his career in print journalism.

Talking about the American conservative radio host's personal life, he has been married twice. He has two daughters from his first marital relationship. His relationship with his first anonymous wife ended in the early '90s.
