Neilson is a knife expert who has the excellent composure to accomplish his task with minimal danger and maximum entertainment. Neilson, who runs a shop “Shop in the woods” in Pennsylvania, became a public icon when he grabbed one of the judging seats in the Forged in Fire. He is not only passionate at what he does but also cares and manages time for his family.
Career As Knife Expert:
The sword and knife expert is relishing the field of more than 20 years. He runs his business “Shop in the Woods” in Northeastern Pennsylvania. He then got the tag of one of the best round bladesmiths when he achieved the rank of Mastersmith in the American Bladesmith Society in 2008.
He is among 115 people worldwide who received the rank. His experience and skills led to the seat f judging panel in History Channel’s reality show “Forged in Fire.” He joined the star studded panel of Doug Marcaida and David Baker. Wil Willis who is former Army Range hosts The show.
Break From Forged with Fire!
J. Neilson, who examines the weapons’ technical qualities and their durability, has a history of getting into an accident which is not a new thing in his profession. Neilson spends his entire day playing on the edge of Knife suffered a horrible hand injury during 3rd season of Forged in Fire.
The injury restricted him to taking the judging role in the show, and ABS Master Smith Jason Knight briefly replaced for season 3 and 4.
He underwent a hand surgery in 2016. Forged in Fire announced on 31st August 2016 that J. Neilson recovered from hand surgery that week. He then returned alongside in Knight for season 4 and resumed his judging role since 8th episode.
His Wife and Family Behind the Screen!
The blade expert likes to spend his entire time to create and test new blade and has hardly any time to concentrate on his family. But as per his Instagram account, he is a married man and has a wife with whom he shares a strong bond.
Recently on 8th August, he posted a snap gift from his wife and said that it’s the favorite thing on his shop wall which proves that he has a wife and is not single.
The couple is also a proud parent of a daughter. On 12th May 2015, he gifted a split RR spike heart to his wife and daughter.
As of now, he keeps his family away from media and hasn’t revealed their names yet, but the love he has for them is no secret and stays with his family in his warm house.
