The Voice approached Jake for auditioning after they discovered him online. He first live-auditioned in Nashville for the producers. Jake was then selected to Los Angeles for blind auditions in front of the four judges Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton.
He had performed ’When It Rains It Pours by Luke Combs’ for his blind audition, which helped him secure a spot on Kelly Clarkson’s team. Since then, progressing throughout the competition and overwhelming the zest of the audiences, Jake finally won the title of 17th season of the singing reality show The Voice on 17 December 2019, beating the strong contestant Rucky Duran from team Blake, a runner up.
Likewise, Katie Kadan from team John became the second runner up, and Rose Short from the Gwen team secured 4th place in the show.
For the finale of the show, Jake joined with one of his country music idols, Little Big Town, and performed their latest hit Over Drinking.

As a winner, Jake is taking home the grand prize of $100,000 as well as sealing a record deal with either Republic Records or the Nashville-based Big Machine Records.
