Louis spent his childhood days in rural Ireland, where he formed a band called Time Machine, a heavy local rock group, at the age of 14. However, he couldn't continue the band as he moved to Dublin at 19 to pursue his music career.

There, he joined the Tommy Hayden Enterprises management firm that was promoting four bands Nevada, Buckshot, The Ventures, and Lyttle People at that time.

Louis and the 32-year-old presenter, Caroline Flack, Andrew Brady's girlfriend, tied the knot in Las Vegas during the year 2012 amid by other The X Factor judges.
