Nasim Pedrad was born in a Muslim family to her parents; Arasteh Amani and Parviz Pedrad, who raised her in Tehran along with her sister Nina Pedrad. Nina is a comedy writer who wrote the episode of New Girl.
Initially, she left Iran and spent a year in Germany with her mom. Later, in 1984, Nasim moved to the United States with her family, when she was only of age three. Her Iranian grandmother passed away in 2018, at the age of 97.
