Jeh Charles Johnson was born on 11 December 1957 in New York City, New York. Jeh graduated from Columbia Law School in 1982, and also inaugurated his professional career at the law firm of Sullivan and Cromwell following his graduation. Jeh, pronounced as 'Jay' obtained his name after his father met Liberian chief, Tuskegee Airman in 1930.
