After completing her college, Heather started working at CNBC in LA. There, she produced stories for business news. After spending two years at the location, she headed to Boston and enrolled in the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. She completed her master’s degree in public policy.

Heather covered the 2004 S.C Democratic presidential primary while she worked for WIS in Columbia. She even got an award for the education series that covered the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in Biloxi.

From 2006 to 2010, Heather got associated with WCCO.
