The TV personality's love for the garden was discovered when she used to work with her grandad in his garden as a kid. That passion drove her, and she got a Saturday job in a garden center and which she enjoyed.

The couple first met when Charlie was traveling in New Zealand in the early 90s. Although John called her "the missus", they were never married. After 13 years of intimacy, the couple split when Charlie was found to be in a relationship with Ground Force microphone operator Andy Simmons in 2001.
Later, she started dating Barry Smith, who worked at the sound technician for the TV series Ground Force.
Over the years, she stayed single; while confirming with Dailymail in 2014, she admitted that she was too old for marriage and happy remaining single.
She doesn't shares children from any of her failed relationships. Back in 2008, in an interview with the Telegraph, she confirmed that she won’t be having any children.
The British gardener Charlie is the daughter of father Terry Dimmock and mother, Sue Kennedy. Her father was a merchant seaman, and her mother owned a clothing shop.
Charlie's parents separated, and her mother got married to a guy named Rob. But unfortunately, Charlie's mother and a step-father lost their life in a tsunami caused by the Indian Ocean earthquake in 2004.

After graduating from college, Charlie Dimmock started working at Romsey Garden Centre in the early 1990s, where she met television producer John Thornicroft. He gave her an opportunity to work in garden makeover series Ground Force in 1997.
She later joined Garden Rescue in 2017. The garden expert, who is currently featuring in the 2019- fourth season of BBC’s Garden Rescue, plans on fixing her garden at the end of the current run of the show.
